• The wheels are aluminium alloy, to save weight, and the tyres have been chosen for low rolling resistance.

• The power steering is electric, which reduces the fuel consumption by 3 per cent.

• It also works when the engine is stopped by the THS, to reduce fuel consumption and emissions.

• The turning circle is notably small for a car with front wheel drive. This is especially useful in cities.

• The brakes have Electronic Brake-force Distribution and ABS.

• They have a hydraulic servo, with an electrically driven compressor (also independent of the engine).

• Considerable ingenuity has been used in combining the friction and regenerative braking systems.

• The parking brake is foot-operated - to keep the way clear for exiting across the car.
